In the year 1953, Antonia and Angelo Iannuso, received a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary as a wedding gift and with great admiration, placed it in their home. When Antonina discovered that she was pregnant, she was afflicted with toxemia and became blind. Antonina recovered her sight the following day and saw the statue of the Blessed Mother in her bedroom. To her astonishment, the statue, was weeping. When she told this to her family members, they also the statue weeping.
Antonina recovered from her illness and gave birth to a healthy child. This was declared as a supernatural phenomenon by the Church.
